Q. How should I prepare for the new pattern in CBSE class 10 to do well in the annual exams?

Ans. From the current academic session, i.e., 2017-2018, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has reintroduced the traditional Board Exam Pattern  in class 10. According to the changed pattern, students  of  class 10 will have to study the whole syllabus for the final exam.

Structure of New Assessment:

As per the CBSE’s remodeled assessment structure, the new assessment scheme will have an 80 marks component for class 10 Board examination in all scholastic subjects along with a 20 marks component of Internal Assessment (IA).

IA comprises:

  • Periodic Tests (PT) with weightage of 10 marks each
  • Notebook Submission of 5 marks
  • Subject Enrichment Activities of 5 marks.

Three periodic written tests will be conducted in the entire academic year and the average of the best two will be considered for the final weightage. For the purpose of gradient learning, three periodic tests may be held as one being the mid-term test and other two being pre mid and post mid-term with the portion of syllabus cumulatively covered.

The chapters and topics to be read this year will remain the same as earlier. There’s no change in the content, but now you need to prepare your mind to retain the things for the whole year as what you have learned today will be a part of the syllabus for the final exam.

Though the CBSE Class 10 Assessment Structure has been changed completely as compared to the previous one, but it’s not a big deal to score well in Class 10 Board exams if you have a clear strategy and a good study plan to cross the victory line.

Preparation strategy for CBSE Class 10 Board Exams:

  • Understand the latest pattern thoroughly.
  • Keep your basics and fundamentals on each topic strong as it will help you in the long run.
  • Be thorough with NCERT books to be good at concepts and fundamentals.
  • Do a good homework on what you learned at school.
  • With the completion of each chapter, analyse the important topics and questions from that chapter. For this you can take help of the previous years’ question papers.
  • Know the syllabus for each Internal Assessment (IA) to make a study plan in advance.
  • Do a thorough preparation for each IA as it will include all the chapters covered till date. The gradually increasing portion of contents would help you acquire confidence for appearing in the Board examination with whole year’s syllabus.

So, a strategic study plan if followed properly will surely help your hard work and efforts to bear fruit and get you the desired result in CBSE Class 10 Bard Exams 2017-2018.
