CBSE Skill Modules 2025: Skills subjects are essential to how the entire curriculum is organized for the Students. To provide students with the necessary entrepreneurial and current employability abilities, CBSE has introduced skill topics along with extra guidelines to integrate skill education in schools affiliated with the organization.

Short, introductory courses called skill modules have been implemented by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for helping students in Classes 6–8 to gain practical and vocational skills in addition to their core coursework. In the early stages of their lives, these skill modules aim to introduce children to a variety of career-driven and life skills. Officially, CBSE started providing skill modules in the 2020–21 school year. The list has steadily grown in recent years to include new and popular subjects including data science, coding, artificial intelligence, financial literacy, and augmented reality/virtual reality.

What is Skill Subject or Skill Module?

CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) offers elective courses called "skill subjects" or "skill modules" to students in grades VI through XII. In order to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills, they place a strong emphasis on practical skills and real-world applications.

The Relation between of Skill Subjects and Best of Five Scores

The new rule allows students to count their top five scores while accounting for the additional skill subjects from their curriculum if they are unhappy with their marks in any of the major courses.

The Board made the following announcement regarding the curriculum for students in classes 9 and 10 who choose to pursue skill subjects: "If a student chooses to study a skill subject (which is offered as a sixth optional subject) in addition to three required subjects (science, math, and social science), the sum of the top five, including two languages (subjects 1 and 2), and the top three (from subjects 3, 4, 5, and 6, including the skill subject) can be taken into account for the percentage calculation."
