The Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE), continuing its successful and eventful Expression Series, has decided to pay tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 31 October. After the successful completion of Expression Series on APJ Abdul Kalam, Sardar Patel would be included this time.
According to a circular issued by DT Sudharsan Rao, the joint secretary and in charge (academic and training) of CBSE, “The history of India would have been different had Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel not been the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister when India became Independent in 1947. Sardar Patel consolidated the country into one united whole in a unique manner. On his birth anniversary, the Central Board of Secondary Education announces CBSE Expression Series on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 31 October, 2015.”
The schools which are participating in this event to make it more colorful can arrange for various competitions and programmes in the school. Students of the schools could submit an essay, poem, drawing etc. The participation of the students would be divided into three parts and all the parts would be given a different topic. The Class I to V students would have to work with the theme ‘Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel: The Iron Man’. Students from class 6 to 8 would need to work on ‘Sardar Vallabhhai Patel’s role in Indian freedom struggle’ and Students from class 9 and 10 would have to work on ‘Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel: the architect of united India’.
36 best entries from the CBSE schools would receive a cash prize of Rs. 2500 and all the students will get a participation certificate. The students can submit the to the respective schools by the students or they can submit the same online as well.
