Delhi: Delhi University will kick-off the DU Admission season 2016 from 1st June, but with one major change. The DU Admissions 2016 will be conducted only through online application process this year. With cut-offs soaring high every year, students have geared up this year as well, but the challenge of completing the DU Admission process in online mode might need some assistance.
This year, students will be required to complete a more detailed online registration form for admission to undergraduate level courses offered at any of the 60 odd colleges falling under the purview of Delhi University. In addition to completing the online application forms, students would also have to upload scanned copies of certificates, mark sheets, quota certifications and other important documents online on the portal. This would require students to get all these documents scanned first and then also understand the detailed uploading process.
Delhi University Colleges Step Up
Taking this into account, Delhi University colleges have stepped up and have assured students that they will be providing crucial tech support to all concerned applicants in completing their online application forms for DU Admissions 2016. Delhi University colleges have pledged to make their computer laboratories and digital infrastructure available to the students for the online admission registration and application process.
Understanding that this is the first time process, Delhi University Admission Committee member R N Dubey has advised all aspirants seeking admission to DU this year, to go to any college that has a computer laboratory or centre and seek assistance this regard. On similar lines, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College principal, SK Garg has stated that his college computer centre and staff will be available in college to assist students in completing their DU online application form easily.
Student Unions to setup Helpdesks at Metro Stations
Student Unions have used DU admission helpdesks as the first point of contact with new students of Delhi University to persuade them to join their organizations. However, with DU Admissions going online this year, the game has changed quite significantly; but student unions seem to be geared up to meet the new challenge as well.
Major student unions active in Delhi University are likely to setup helpdesks and DU Admissions application processing desks at metro stations to help applicants. Many outstation students often visit the DU campuses to check out colleges and facilities offered before they apply for respective colleges. Student Unions are planning to cash on this influx and help them out by opening up DU admission helpdesks at metro stations near north and south campuses of the University of Delhi.
One of the biggest beneficiaries of the online application process for DU Admissions have been the outstation students, who now need not personally visit DU campuses to apply for admissions. However, even they might face problems as currently the information bulletin for DU undergraduate level admission is not yet available. But, even for outstation students, their respective schools have opened doors of their computer labs and have made staff available to help them complete the DU admissions process.
While the Delhi University taking the admission process online is a step in the right direction, lack of clarity about the process has caused severe confusion among the aspirants. We will have to wait and see how successful this experiment proves to be for DU Admissions 2016.
