Question & Answer with Dr Manoj Bhatia, Associate Dean, Institute of Management, JK Lakshmipat University Jaipur

    1. What can a student gain from studying MBA or BBA and/or BBA+MBA Integrated program?

Academically, these are very solid programs. Not only do you get a very good education covering all the important aspects of business, you also get a branded education. You will be studying at an institution of a University that is nationally known, promoted by 125 years old and globally renowned JK Organization and is ranked 65th in India by Business World C-Fore Business School Survey 2016

We are a top Institute and on the Management programs you will be taught by top academics and professionals from across all of our faculties. Our MBA class is extremely diverse. Students come from many different academic and cultural backgrounds, and we leverage this diversity. There is a lot of group project work and so the program forces you to go outside your comfort zone and collaborate.

    2. In your opinion, what does Institute of Management JKLU represent?

    Innovation and entrepreneurship
Institute of Management is part of JK Lakshmipat University and that connection has been crucial to the way it has developed. A focus on innovation and entrepreneurship is not just a claim that we make – it is part of the Institute’s DNA and it is substantiated by everything we do here.

I would also emphasize that we have impressive strengths with regard to teaching finance, marketing, retail, human resource, IT, operations, supply chain and logistics and preparing students for careers in the financial services, banking, insurance, retail, supply chain and logistics and other service sectors.

    3. What is particularly distinctive about the MBA program here?

The program is highly practical. We really push students to develop their practical experience. There are many opportunities to do this including work placements, entrepreneurship projects and the Industry Internships, which allow students to work on real business problems with companies, and that could be any company, from a globally-known business like PepsiCo or PWC to a start-up here in Jaipur/Delhi-NCR

Also, the way we teach combines theory with its practical applications. We continually challenge students to look at topics that are growing in importance today, like sustainability and crisis management. MBA is also very flexible, which is something we have really been focusing on as the program has developed. Students cover all the key management topics and then customize their experience through the various electives and summer internships.

    4. Why does the MBA program place such high importance on industry and global exposure?

Business is becoming more complex and more global every day. You cannot aim to become an executive in a corporation and not be prepared to think globally. Global exposure itself is now a skill in the job market. MBA students don’t only study with peers from across the nation, they can choose to take part in Internship Projects with international companies and we even have the Industry Study Tours and Global experts from industry and academia meeting and talking to them

    5. What do you personally enjoy most about coming to Institute of Management at JK Lakshmipat University every day?

Dealing with smart people: smart, motivated students and smart colleagues. Not only do we discuss very challenging problems here, we deliver solutions. It is a stimulating environment and a very interesting one.
