Educational Qualification:
(i) For Engineers. Candidates studying in the Final Year of Engineering Degree and who are qualified graduates of the Degree Course in Engineering will be eligible to apply.
Important: Minimum educational qualification for induction into TGC - 117 course is BE / B.Tech. in the engineering stream notified in the streams above.
(ii) For Army Education Corps. MA / M.Sc. in English / Economics / History / Music / Geography / Political Science / Chinese / Tibetan / Burmese / Pushto / Dari / Arabic / Physics / Mathematics in 1st or 2nd division from a university recognized by AIU
(iii) For Military Farm. Degree in dairying / Agriculture with dairying as one of the subjects from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification in Agriculture from a foreign university. (Preference will be given to those who hold M.Sc. degree or have carried out research in Dairying of Fodder Crops).
Physical Standards:
(i) Height & Weight: The minimum acceptable height and weight for men is 157.5 cms with correlated weight. (Minimum height limit relaxed by by 5 cms and weight commensurate with reduced height for candidates belonging to the North East and hilly areas like Gorkhas, Nepalese, Assamese and Garhwalis. In case of candidates from Lakshadweep, the minimum acceptable height can be reduced by 2cms.)
(ii) Visual Standards: The minimum acceptable visual acuity are: Distant vision (corrected) better eye 6/6, worse 6/18, Myopia of not more than minus 3.5 including Astigmation. Candidates who have undergone or have evidence for having undergone Radial Karatotomy to improve the visual acuity will be permanently rejected. Candidates who have undergone Lasik Surgery for Correction of reflective error are NOT acceptable.
Candidates are advised to achieve following standards with rigorous physical training before joining the Indian Military Academy (IMA), if selected:
(a) Running 2.4Km in 15 minutes
(b) Push ups - 13 Nos
(c) Sit ups - 25 Nos
(d) Chin ups - 6 Nos
(e) Rope climbing - 3-4 metres.
Selection Procedure:
Final selection would be done on the basis of Medical Examination and candidates’ performance in Personal Interview.
Two stage selection procedure based on Psychological Aptitude Test will be held at Selection Centres namely Allahabad (UP), Bhopal (MP) and Bangalore (Karnataka). Short listed eligible candidates will be called for and assessed by Psychologist, Group Testing Officer and Interviewing Officer in February – March 2013. All the candidates will have to face stage one test on first day of reporting. The candidates who qualify in stage one will be admitted to the second stage / remaining tests.
A candidate recommended by the Service Selection Board will undergo a medical examination by a Board of Service. Candidates will be considered medically fit only on receipt of the approved Medical documents from Directorate
A merit list is prepared on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates at SSB’s and joining instruction for pre-commissioning Training is issued to those High in the merit list and who come within the stipulated vacancies, and are medically fit.
Allotment of selection centres and SSB interview schedule and The merit list, before induction for pre-commissioning training, will be displayed at the notice board of DG RTG and on Indian Army, Recruiting Directorate’s website http://www.joinindianarmy.nic.in
Note: Candidates are advised in their own interest to undergo a preliminary medical check-up for wax in ears, DNS, defective colour vision, over weight /under weight, piles, gynaecomasties, tonsilitis and visicocle before reporting for the SSB interview.
No compensation will be paid in respect of any injury sustained as a result of test conducted at SSB .
Training:
Candiates selected for Technical Graduates Course will be detailed for one year training at Indian Military Academy. Dehradun. Engineering Graduates will be granted Short Service Commission (on probation) and will be entitled to draw full pay and allowances admissible to Lt during training period. Pay and allowances will be paid after successful completion of training.
Engineering Graduates will be granted permanent commission in the rank of Lt with one year antedate seniority from the date of granting commission. Non-engineering Post Graduates applying for AEC will be Granted Permanent Commission in the rank of Lt. However they are not entitiled to any ante date seniority.
The final allocation of Arms/ Services will be made prior to passing out of Gentlemen Cadets from IMA.
Training at IMA is at Government’s expense.
Stipend / Pay and CTC:
Selected candidates will be paid a stipend of Rs. 21000 p.m. (Rs.15600 as pay in Pay Band + Grade Pay Rs.5400). On completion of training Officers are commissioned as Lt and entitled to the pay scale as given below:

The promotion from Lieutenant to Lieutenant Colonel is on time scale basis and thereafter on selection basis subject to fulfillment of requisite service conditions. The Pay Scale and promotion criteria is as follows:-

Cost to company (CTC). The CTC for a Lieutenant would be approximately Rs.65000 per month. This includes Basic Pay, DA, Grade Pay, Military Service Pay (MSP), Tech Pay, HRA and TA. In addition to these, Army provides free Medical Facilities for Self & dependents, Canteen facilities, Entitled Ration, Mess / Club / Sports Facilities, Furnished Government Accommodation, Car / Housing Loan at subsidised rate.
Leave Entitlements. On Commission, officers are entitled to 60 days annual and 20 days casual leave every year. They are also entitled for 40% rail concession to any place and free travel for self and family. Leave during training period will be as per the Training Policy in force.
The final allotment of Arms / Service / Corps, at the time of passing out, will be the sole discretion of Integrated HQ, Min of Defence (Army).
How to Apply:
For Technical Graduate Course (TGC): Interested eligible candidates can apply online through the website http://www.joinindianarmy.nic.in till 14 December 2012.
On successful submission of online application, an Acknowledgement Form containing the Roll Number would be generated by the system. Candidates are required to take its 2 print out and send one of the print out by Registered post to ‘The Directorate General of Recruiting (Rtg-6), TGC Section, West Block-III, R.K.Puram, New Delhi – 110 066’ so as to reach the said office on or before 31 December 2012.
Candidates are required to paste their recent passport size photo on the print out of the System generated Acknowledgement Form and also attach attested copies of all relevant certificates / documents before sending it to the DG.Rtg. The envelope containing the application should be super scribed “Online application for TGC – 117 and the Roll No ___ “ .
The second copy of the printout of application acknowledgement form along with the Roll No and all certificates in original are to be carried to the Selection Centre by the candidate for the interview. Candidature of a candidate would be cancelled if he does not present these documents before the SSB interview panel.
Candidates must submit only one application. Receipt of multiple applications from a candidate will result in cancellation of candidature.
For Army Education Corps and Military Farms: AEC and Military Farms candidates are not permitted to apply online. They should apply only by post.
Candidates applying for the post of Army Education Corps should send their applications as per the format by post to ‘Directorate General of Recruiting (Rtg-6), TGC Section, West Block-III, R.K. Puram, New Delhi-110066’ in an envelope super-scribed 117th TGC (ARMY EDUCATION CORPS) in capital letters & red ink. The applications should reach the DG-Rtg office on or before ‘20 November 2012’, last date for receipt of application for AEC
Candidates applying for the post of Military Farms should send their applications as per the format by post to
‘Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Army), QMG’s Branch, Directorate of Military Farms (MF-1), West Block-III, R.K.Puram, New Delhi-110066’ in an envelope super-scribed MILITARY FARMS in capital letters & red ink. The applications should reach the Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Army), on or before ‘20 November 2012’, last date for receipt of application for Military Farms.
Note:
Candidates will neither be allowed to marry during the period of training nor will he be allowed to live with parents/Guardians. Candidates must not marry until they complete the full training at the Indian Military Academy. A candidate, who marries subsequent to the date of his application though successful at the Services Selection Board interview or medical examination, will not be inducted for taining. A candidate if he marries, while under training, shall be discharged and will be liable to refund all expenditure incurred on him by the government.
Any change in postal address after submission of application must be communicated by post duly quoting the Roll No. name and course opted for.
Candidates withdrawn from NDA, OTA, IMA, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy on disciplinary grounds are not
eligible to apply.
