IIT Joint Entrance Exam Main popularly known as IIT JEE Main is a national level engineering exam conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for admissions to Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Technology and Bachelor of Architecture courses. There are two papers for JEE Main where paper 1 is for B.E./B.Tech candidates and paper 2 is for B. Arch candidates. Online mock test window for JEE Main and JEE Advanced has been opened by CBSE and IIT Kanpur –
CBSE has opened the window for an online mock test for JEE Main 2018 for students who want to appear in the engineering entrance exam this year. Moreover, now IIT Kanpur has also started online mock tests for JEE Advanced 2018. These online mock tests can be utilised by all those students who have registered for IIT JEE 2018 through JEE Main 2018 application form. Candidates who want to appear in JEE Main 2018 and JEE Advanced 2018 to get admission in B.E./B.Tech programmes at Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) must apply for the Joint Entrance Exam 2018 as the application form of JEE Main are only available until January 02, 2018 in online mode.
JEE Main mock test 2018 is facilitated by CBSE for the IIT aspirants so that they can get the experience of the Computer Based Test (CBT) as this will help them know the paper pattern of JEE Main 2018 as well as they will be able to analyse their performance level for the engineering entrance exam 2018.
CBSE has scheduled the JEE Main offline paper on April 08, 2018 and the Computer Based Test of JEE Main 2018 on April 15 and 16, 2018. The students who will qualify JEE Main 2018 and be among 2, 24,000 shortlisted candidates (irrespective of reserved category) will be able to appear for JEE Advanced 2018 on May 20, 2018.
This year onwards, JEE Advanced 2018 will be conducted entirely in a computer-based mode this is why students need to practice mock tests as much as possible before the exam.

How to use online mock tests for JEE Main 2018 and JEE Advanced 2018?
The online mock test of JEE 2018 is similar to the actual computer-based test mode as it is based on previous year question papers of JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Candidates who have filled the application form of JEE Main 2018 can take the online mock tests as mentioned below –
- Visit the official website of JEE Main 2018
- Click on ‘Mock test for Computer Based Examination’ provided in the main tab of the website
- Enter your JEE Main 2018 registered login Id and password
- Read all instructions before taking the test and select language of test and read declaration and click on ‘I am ready to begin’
- You can now take the online mock test for Joint Entrance Examination 2018. There are 90 questions equally divided into three sections i.e. physics, chemistry and mathematics.
Note: the online mock test window also has a timer so that students taking the online mock test can have a real time exam experience as the actual exam of IIT JEE 2018 will have time duration of 180 minutes.

JEE Main 2018 - Eligibility Criteria:
The eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2018 are the conditions which a candidate who wants to appear in the engineering entrance exam should fulfil. This includes educational qualification, age as well as qualifying examinations. Candidates who do not meet the eligibility criteria of JEE Main 2018 will not be able to appear for the examination. Date of Birth:
- As per updated JEE Main eligibility criteria, only students whose birth date falls on or after 1st October 1993, are eligible.
- Candidates who belong to any reserved category i.e. SC/ST/PWD are provided age relaxation of five years.
Year of Appearance in Qualifying Examination:
- Candidates who have appeared for Class 12th qualifying examination in 2016, 2017 or are appearing for 10+2 qualifying examination in 2018 are only eligible for JEE Main 2018.
- Candidates who appeared for class 12 qualifying examination in 2015 but failed and reappeared for the qualifying in 2016 and passed the examinations are not eligible to appear for JEE Main 2018.
A number of subjects in the Qualifying Examination:
- Candidate must have taken 5 subjects in Class 12th qualifying exam including Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics to be eligible for JEE Main 2018
- Candidates who only have four subjects in 10+2 qualifying examination are not eligible for admissions through JEE Main 2018 even if they somehow applied and appeared in the engineering entrance exam.
Number of Attempts:
- Candidates can appear for JEE Main only 3 times in total
- For JEE Advanced, there are only two attempts in total in two consecutive years
JEE Application Form 2018:
The application form of JEE Main can be filled in online mode only. CBSE has started the application process of JEE Main 2018 from December 01. Aspirants of JEE Main 2018 can apply in online mode as mentioned below –
Registration – Students need to visit the official website of JEE Main 2018 i.e. jeemain.nic.in to register for the engineering entrance exam. They need to fill their basic details like nationality, Identification document and number, candidates’ name, date of birth, gender and enter the security pin as mentioned at the bottom to submit the registration details.
Filling up the application form – Once the registration for JEE Main 2018 has been completed; candidates can proceed to fill the application form with academic details, personal details, test details, exam centre details, as well as communication details like mobile number and e-mail id.
Uploading documents – In this step, candidates need to upload a scanned copy of all the required documents i.e. Photograph and Signature as per the specifications mentioned in the instructions.
Fee payment – All candidates need to pay the application fee for JEE Main 2018 to complete their application. The JEE Main 2018 application fee is different for all categories. Candidates can pay the application fee in online mode using Credit Card and Debit Card or in offline mode by generating E-challan of Syndicate/Canara/ICICI Bank.
Submit the application form – Once candidates pay JEE Main 2018 and their application status is updated (within 2 days in case of bank e-challan payment), they can download the confirmation page and print copy of filled in JEE Main 2018 application form.
Note: Candidates must keep their Aadhaar card number handy, as it is now mandatory to submit your Aadhaar Number in JEE Main Application Form 2018 and without the Aadhaar number the application form won’t be accepted.

JEE Main Syllabus 2018:
Every year CBSE, the exam conducting authority of JEE Main releases the updated syllabus for the engineering entrance exam. This JEE Main 2018 syllabus helps students to prepare better as the questions are based on it completely. JEE Main Admit Card 2018
The candidates who have registered to appear for JEE Main 2018 will be issued admit cards to take the exam. It will be issued to candidates in online mode only and candidates can download their JEE Main admit card by login through their account. The admit card is the hall ticket which mentions details of the candidate who is appearing for JEE Main 2018. The candidates should carry this admit card issued to the exam centre as allotted to them as per their slot and exam schedule. Candidates who have successfully registered for JEE Main 2018 will get notification for admit card availability on their registered mobile number and e-mail address. They can follow the steps as mentioned below to get their JEE Main 2018 –

- After clicking the link, a new page will open up where you can login and download the admit card
JEE Main 2018 – Exam Centres
The exam centres list for JEE Main 2018 has been published by CBSE along with the notification. The candidates appearing for the JEE main entrance exam must check the exam centres list before filling up the application form. The candidates have the facility to choose their preferred city as their exam centre for their convenience. This year, the exam centres of JEE Main have been increased by CBSE as there will be 145 test centres added to the test centre list i.e. the total number of exam centres for JEE Main 2018 has been increased to 258 centres across India and 10 outside India (earlier 9 centres were outside India).

JEE Main 2018 Changes:
CBSE has made some changes in the overall structure of JEE Main. Check the changes in JEE Main 2018 –
1. The number of candidates for JEE Advanced 2018 – The number of candidates to be shortlisted for JEE Advanced 2018 has been increased to 2, 24, 000. Earlier, only 2, 00, 000 were eligible for taking JEE Advanced.
2. A number of Participating Institutes – Earlier, there were 23 Indian Institutes of Information Technology and 20 Centrally Funded Institute of Technology (CFTI). But, this year the IITs have been reduced to 20 i.e. 3 IIITs would not be participating in IIT JEE 2018. And, 2 more CFTIs have been added so, this year there will be 22 CFTIs participating in IIT JEE.
3. Changes in JEE Main Application Form 2018 – This year, candidates applying for JEE Main 2018 have to upload their Parent/Guardian’s signature copy (jpg format) mandatorily, or their application form won’t be accepted. Earlier, CBSE has made candidates’ Aadhaar card mandatory for JEE Main Application.
4. Changes in Number of Exam Centres of JEE Main 2018 - CBSE has added test centres for JEE Main exam in India as well as outside India. This year, JEE Main will be held at 258 centres i.e. 145 more exam centres have been facilitated for JEE Main candidates this year. Last year JEE Main was held at 113 exam centres across India. Also, JEE Main 2018 exam centres outside India have been increased to 10 by including Qatar in the list; last year JEE Main exam centres outside India were 9.
5. Changes in Test Medium of JEE Main 2018– This year JEE Main will be held in English and Hindi for all exam centres except for Gujarat, Daman & Diu as well as Dadra and Nagar Haveli, it will be conducted in English, Hindi and Gujarati. Last year, JEE Main was conducted in Gujarati, Marathi as well as Urdu medium.
The exam conducting authority releases answer key for JEE Main 2018 after 3-4 days of conducting the examination. The official answer key of JEE Main 2018 represents the correct answer for each question of JEE Main question papers. The JEE Main answer key will be available for all four codes of the question paper and candidates can cross-check their answer with it. Moreover, the candidates will be provided the facility of registering their complaints or any feedback regarding the answer key in case they find any wrong/mis-match of answers etc.

JEE Main Cut off Trends for the year 2015, 2016 and 2017 –
Cut off marks are the minimum marks determined by exam conducting authority basis which the candidates are considered qualified or non-qualified. For example, to qualify a board exam, a student needs to score at least 33% marks in aggregate. Similarly, for qualifying JEE Mains, candidates need to score the minimum cut off marks to be qualified for next level i.e. JEE Advanced.

JEE Main 2018 – Results
The results of JEE Main paper 1 2018 will be announced by April 30, 2018. Candidates who will score as per the cut off marks will be termed as qualified for the engineering examination. The candidates must score passing marks in each section of JEE Main 2018 question paper as well as overall marks to be eligible for next level examinations of JEE Main 2018 i.e. JEE Advanced. The exam conducting authority will prepare a rank list based on the JEE Main 2018 Results which is most commonly known as All India Ranks list. Candidates will be intimated about their JEE Main 2018 result on their registered mobile number and e-mail address so that they can login to check their JEE Main qualifying status.
