    Karnataka TET 2018: The KARTET exam is set to be conducted on 03.02.2019 as per the latest notification. Thousands of candidates wait for the KARTET exam every year because it is the gateway to become a government teacher in Karnataka schools. The KARTET exam is a mandatory exam for all candidates, who want to teach for Classes I-VIII. However, KARTET exam is a qualifying exam and it does not guarantee any employment. But with KARTET qualifying certificate, you can apply for primary and upper primary teaching post for the next 5 years.     Karnataka TET (KARTET) Teacher: Job Description & Responsibilities

    After deputation as a teacher, you will be teaching for Classes I-V (primary teacher) or Classes VI-VIII (upper primary teacher) or both and you are supposed to perform the following duties while teaching at the school-

    • As a teacher, you have to act as a facilitator for guiding students in their overall development.
    • You have to teach the students in such a way so that they can develop their interest in the respective subject/activity.
    • You will be responsible for accomplishing the syllabus on time as per the NCF (National Curriculum Framework) guidelines.
    • You will also be responsible for maintaining the daily class attendance.
    • You have to formulate the class assignments & daily homework for the students and evaluate the student’s performance accordingly.
    • Apart from the above activities, you have to coordinate with other teaching staff so that all other activities (games, cultural programs, labs, etc.) can be fulfilled without any conflict.

    Beyond the above duties, you can also some initiatives at your own for grooming students in their future maneuvers. A teacher also guides the students in becoming a good human being so that they can contribute to society efficiently.

    Karnataka TET (KARTET) Teacher Salary

    As a teacher in Karnataka state schools, you will not get paid so high. After 7thpay commission, it is expected that the salary of a teacher will have a substantial hike.  The salary of a primary teacher and upper primary teacher differs from areas to areas. If you are posted in an urban area, you will get a few thousands of rupees extra to the rural posted teacher. However, the basic salary at both levels remains the same.     In the above-stated salary figure, 7thpay revision is not included. But it is estimated that after the 7th pay revision, you will get salary up to 2.57 times of the existing salary. Apart from this salary figure, you will be entitled to several perks, benefits including medical reimbursements, leaves, etc. A teacher trainee, you will be drawing a monthly stipend of Rs. 7,300 (approximately).

    Karnataka TET (KARTET) Teacher Promotions and Career Growth

    A teacher through KARTET exam gets an immense opportunity of promotions. After completing the training, you will possibly be appointed as the Assistant teacher for Classes I-V (primary classes) and Classes VI-VIII (upper primary classes). As an Assistant Teacher, you will perform the above-stated responsibilities and you will get promoted to the rest posts in the following order-

    Assistant Teacher-------> Senior Teacher ----> Head Master ----------> Principal

    It will take nearly 7-8 years to get first promotion as a senior teacher for both primary and upper primary teacher. However, remaining promotions require a good service period, better experience, and higher qualification. There are few teachers, who can become Head Master in a school. A Principal is a governing person, who takes care of the whole academic and non-academic activities in a school and he is chosen among the headmasters based on his experience and contribution in providing education at school level.
