KARTET notification 2018-19: The Karnataka Government conducts KARTET exam every year for recruiting the teachers in state government schools for Classes I-VIII. There are thousands of candidates, who wait for this exam as it is among the most sought exam among the young graduates. KARTET exam is a mandatory exam and it is considered the minimum qualification for a person to be eligible for the appointment as a teacher for Classes I-VIII.

However, qualifying KARTET exam does not guarantee any job assurance in the state government schools. To grab a teaching job, you have to first qualify the KARTET exam, then you will receive a qualifying KARTET certificate. With this KARTET certificate, you can appear in the interviews as notified by the Karnataka government. This KARTET qualifying certificate will remain valid for the next 7 years from the date of issuance. Now, you may be thinking that what is the intent of Karnataka government behind the KARTET exam? Karnataka TET (KARTET) 2018-19 Application Form

The application form for KARTET exam will be accepted online @schooleducation.kar.nic.in on or before 25th December 2018. Candidates can fill the application form with a scanned JPEG photograph and signature. On completing the application form, the candidate should take a print of the computer generated application containing registration number, applied papers, and complete address of residence. After filling up all the information, a candidate has to submit the application fee accordingly. The details of fee structure for KARTET 2018 exam is as follows-

Karnataka TET (KARTET) Exam Pattern

In KARTET 2018 exam, there will be two papers i.e. Paper-1 and Paper-2. Paper-1 is mandatory for those candidates, who want to teach for Classes I-V, while Paper-2 is for those candidates, who intend to teach for Classes VI-VIII. A candidate, who wants to teach for Classes I-VIII, has to attend both the papers. The time duration of KARTET Paper-1 and Paper-2 will be 2 hours and 30 minutes. There will be 150 MCQs in each paper. Each question carries 1 mark. For every correct answer, you will get 1 mark. There will be no negative marking. Karnataka TET (KARTET) Syllabus

As per the KARTET notification 2018, there is no lucidity in the KARTET syllabus. But you can refer to CTET syllabus as a reference for KARTET preparation. The difficulty level of Paper-1 will be of secondary level, while the difficulty level of Paper-2 will be of senior secondary level. The authority of KARTET exam has indicated in the KARTET notification that candidates should refer the NCERT books/state board books to gain insights of the KARTET syllabus.

Karnataka TET (KARTET) Eligibility Criteria

In KARTET exam, there will two papers i.e. Paper-1 and Paper-2. Paper-1 will be for primary classes, while Paper-2 will be conducted for upper primary classes. The eligibility criteria for the KARTET exam is as follows-

  • Class 12th with 45-50% marks and D.EI.Ed with 50% marks or B.EI.Ed. with 50% marks


  • As per the latest NCTE rules, candidates who have passed B.Ed. with 50% marks, can also apply for primary teacher posts.



  • B.A, B.Sc. or B.Com with 45-50% marks and B.Ed with 50% marks


  • Candidates with Master’s degree and B.Ed. can also apply for Paper II exam.

  • Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of B.El.Ed.


  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
