Punjab Public Service Commission has made an appeal to the State Government for making Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) as the only qualifying examination to appear for Punjab Civil Services Examination.

As of now the candidates who qualify the CSAT, appear for the next level of the examination and at the time of declaration of preliminary examination result the CSAT marks are added in the marks which to some extent hamper the overall result. The CSAT benefit students from engineering background however, non-engineering background students find it unfair.

The petition has been forwarded to the commission by PPSC Secretary Manjeet Singh Cheema on the basis of student’s feedback and if the government approves to it, the Punjab State Civil Services Rules, 2009 will be required to be amended and the candidates will then be required to score 33% percent marks in preliminary examination.
