    Ans. Firozabad is famous for its bangles industry. It is the hub of India's glass blowing industry. Here, families have spent generations working around the furnaces, welding glass, making bangles for all the women as a symbol of auspiciousness and marriage.

    Q. Mention the hazards of working in the glass bangle industry.

    Ans. The glass bangle industry offers a very unhealthy environment for the people working in them. They have to work in the glass furnaces with high temperature in dingy cells without the basic amenities. Workers including child labourers, lose sight at an early age due to bad posture and incredibly long working hours.

    Q. How is Mukesh's attitude to his situation different from that of his family?

    Ans. Mukesh's grandmother, father, elder brother, all believe that it is their 'god-given lineage' to be born into the caste of bangle makers. They have accepted everything as destiny. Years of constant hard work have numbed their senses, their desire and courage to dream. But Mukesh is determined to break free from the vicious circle of poverty and start a new life by daring to dream of becoming a motor mechanic.
