UGC NET Cut-Off 2024: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the UGC NET result on its official website, ugcnet.nta.ac.in. The cut-off marks has also be announced alongside the results. Candidates who appeared for the exam, conducted from August 21 to September 5, can check the UGC NET cut-off on the official site.
This national-level exam is held twice a year to determine the eligibility of candidates for the positions of Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or Assistant Professor. Test-takers who are eagerly awaiting the cut-off marks and results are advised to keep visiting the official website.
NTA announced the UGC NET cut-off on the official website, ugcnet.nta.ac.in. Aspirants who secure marks more than the UGC NET minimum qualifying marks will be eligible to appear for the next stage.
UGC NET Cut Off 2024
The National Testing Agency releases the cut-off marks for the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) along with the results. This national-level exam is conducted twice a year. The June 2024 cycle was held from August 21 to September 4, 2024. The official UGC NET Cut Off 2024 has ben announced on the NTA’s website along with the UGC NET result on October 17. Candidates who meet or exceed the cut-off marks are qualified to proceed in the recruitment process.

UGC NET Cut Off 2024 Out of 300
The board calculates the cut-off marks out of 300, with minimum passing marks varying by category. General category candidates must score at least 120 marks out of 300 to qualify for the exam. Candidates belonging to OBC, SC, ST, PWD, and Transgender need to secure at least 105 marks out of 300 combined in both Papers 1 and 2.
UGC NET Minimum Qualifying Marks
The lowest score required to clear the NTA NET exam is called the minimum qualifying marks. The exam authority has set the passing marks at 40% for General and EWS categories, and 35% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD/Third gender categories. The table below shows the expected UGC NET passing marks based on different categories.

How to Calculate UGC NET Cut Off?
Step 1: NTA ensures that 6% of the total candidates who sit for the exam qualify.
Step 2: Total slots are distributed among candidates as per the Government of India's reservation policy.
Step 3: To qualify for JRF and Assistant Professor roles, candidates must take both papers and secure at least 40 percent aggregate marks for the General/Unreserved category and 35 percent aggregate marks for reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), PwD, and Transgender).

Factors Influencing UGC NET Cut Off
Several factors are taken into consideration while determining the UGC NET expected cut off. Candidates must be aware of these factors to ensure they score the minimum qualifying marks and ace the exam with flying colours.
- Difficulty level of the exam: The exam's difficulty level affects the cut-off marks: if the exam is very easy, the cut-off will be higher.
- Number of candidates: A higher number of candidates can also result in a higher cut-off.
- Candidates' performance: Aspirants' good performance will also result in high UGC NET cut-off marks.
