The Mumbai University is all set to include 28 new colleges in the city, giving a special reason of joy for students in the city. Due to immense competition and high scores in the intermediate exams many students often left out of the purview of the university, due to lack of seats. Inclusion of new colleges and extension of the university would mean new colleges and increased seats for students to take up in future.

The Department of Higher and Technical Education of the state informed recently that 28 colleges have been shortlisted for the same and proposal of inclusion has been sent to the state government for approval. By the end of this month, final decision in this regard would be made by the government and circulated to the university.

Though, the officials from the Mumbai University have shown their concern about their inability to start all the academic courses in these newly included colleges from this academic session, as they would lack infrastructure. The students would have to at least wait for a year to get all functional colleges under the university.

Besides, admission procedure for various course have now got over around the city and classes are scheduled to begin from 4 July, 2016. In such a case, it would be impossible to carry out admission in the new colleges for the students for this academic session. Hence, the students would have to wait for another year to avail the benefits of added colleges in the list of Mumbai University colleges.
