17th Annual Star Screen Awards

Karbonn Mobiles 17th Annual Star Screen Awards was organised at the MMRDA Grounds in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex on 6 January 2011. A small budget film about youthful dreams, Udaan by Vikramaditya Motwane won top honour at the Star Awards. Smaller films like Udaan, Peepli [Live], Ishqiya, Phas Gaye Re Obama and Band Baaja Baaraat shared space with biggies such as Dabangg, Raajneeti, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai and My Name is Khan. Dabangg directed by Abhinav Kashyap proved to be the most successful with a total of six Awards. Salman Khan won Best Actor-Male award for Dabaang. Dabaang's leading ladySonakshi Sinha won the Award for Most Promising Newcomer – Female. Dabangg’s other Awards included Best Action and Best Choreography for the movie's item number Munni Badnaam Hui.
