Virdhawal Khade of Maharashtra and Richa Mishra of Delhi dominated the 34th National Games swimming competition by winning gold in a record time on the opening day at the Beer Budhu Bhagat Aquatic Stadium in February 2011. Khade from Kholapur in Maharashtra finished the 200m freestyle in a record time of 1:53.91s. The Guangzhou Asian Games gold medallist in 50m butterfly also won the 100m butterfly gold medal with a meet record time of 55.56. He finished third in the 4x100m freestyle relay. Richa Mishra from Delhi who won two gold medals, both with new timings failed to win any in the relay event.
