German car maker Volkswagen appointed Arvind Saxena as the Managing Director of Volkswagen passengers car in India. In this new role Saxena will be heading the Volkswagen brand with responsibility for sales, after sales and marketing.
Prior to joining Volkswagen, Saxena was heading the sales and marketing operations at Hyundai Motor India Limited. Before leaving the company on 19 July 2012, he worked for Hyundai Moto India Limited for seven years. In a career spanning over three decades he had also been associated with Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj, Fiat India and Escorts.
Volkswagen has invested over 3700 crore rupees in a plant in Chakan near Pune which manufactures 110000 vehicles annually. The company is making various cars targeting Indian customers. The current car variants that company is selling in Indian market includes Polo, Vento, Jetta, Passat, New Beetle, Touareg and the Phaeton.
