The soft drink company Coca-Cola on 26 June 2012 announced to invest 28000 crore rupees (about 5 billion dollar) from 2012 to 2020 due to youth population, growing economy increase in urbanisation and changing lifestyle in India. It would likely to provide employment around 1.5 lakh people in company’s procurement, supply-chain and distribution.

The investment is on expansion of bottling lines, building new plants, back-end chain infrastructure and marketing of the company. Presently in India, the company has 56 plants of which 21 are franchise plants, 23 are company-owned and 12 contract packaging plants. Currently, India is the seventh spot in the world. Previously it was on the 16 or 17 position in the year 2005-06.

The Coca-Cola Company is an American Multinational drink company. It was founded by Asa Griggs Candler in 1889. Coca Cola sells a diversity of both carbonated and non-carbonated drinks in India. It includes Coca Cola, Thums Up, Sprite, Maaza and Minute Maid. It was the first commercial sponsor of 1928 Olympics games, Amsterdam.
