Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva launched the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty during the opening of the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro. This historic initiative involves 148 founding members, including 82 countries, various international organisations, financial institutions and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
