The International Chess Federation has awarded the title of Grandmaster to India's young chess player Vaishali Ramesh Babu. Vaishali is the third Indian woman Grandmaster after Koneru Humpy and Harika Dronavalli. Vaishali had achieved the 2500 ELO points required for Grandmaster in the Llobregat Open tournament in Spain last year.

2. (b) IIT Patna

Indian Institute of Technology-Patna (IIT Patna) has been awarded a patent by the Patent Office of the Government of India on an indigenously developed lightweight, compact and easy-to-port inverter. IIT Patna will have the copyright on the commercial use of this technology for 20 years.

IRS Pratima Singh has been appointed as Director in the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). This order was issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). Pratima Singh is a 2009-batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer.

4. (b) DRDO

India has successfully test fired Supersonic Missile Assisted Release of Torpedo (SMART) anti-submarine missile system off the Balasore coast of Odisha. SMART is a next generation missile-based light weight torpedo delivery system. It has been designed and developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

5. (a) Krishna Swaminathan

Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan assumed charge as Vice Chief of the Naval Staff on 01 May 2024. He was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 01 Jul 87. He is an expert in communications and electronic warfare. He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla.
