1.(b) Dominic Thiem
Austria’s Dominic Thiem beat Germany’s Alexander Zverev on September 13, 2020 to win the men’s singles title at the US Open. Thiem lifted the trophy after making a comeback in the five-set long marathon final 2-6, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (6). This was the first US Open final which was decided by a fifth-set-tie break. 

2.(a) Uttar Pradesh
The Uttar Pradesh state government announced on September 13, 2020 that a special force will be constituted to protect courts, airports, administrative buildings, metros, banks and other government offices. The Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force (UPSSF) will reportedly be allowed to conduct searches and arrests without warrants if it is sure about the crime.

3.(a) Rs 20,000 crore 
The Union Government on September 14, 2020 sought Parliament's approval for infusing Rs 20,000 crore in public sector banks in the current financial year to meet regulatory requirements. The proposal is a part of the first batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants for 2020-21 moved by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Lok Sabha earlier today.

Hindi Diwas 2020 was celebrated across the country on September 14, 2020 to mark the adoption of Hindi written in Devanagari as the official language of the country by the Constituent Assembly in 1949.

5.(c) Bahrain
In another historic breakthrough, Israel and Bahrain agreed to establish full diplomatic relations in a joint statement issued on September 11, 2020 between the US, Israel and Bahrain leaders. With this Bahrain has joined the United Arab Emirates in agreeing to normalise relations with Israel, in a US-brokered deal.

Germany, a major diplomatic partner of China, has decided to shift its focus to building stronger partnerships with democratic countries in the Indo-Pacific region to promote the rule of law. The move will serve a major blow to China.
