India was elected to the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member for a two-year term on June 17, 2020. India received overwhelming support from UN member states, winning 184 votes out of the total 192 valid votes polled in the 193-member UN General Assembly.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to launch 'Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan' through video conference from Bihar's Khagaria district on June 20, 2020 to boost livelihood opportunities in rural India.

A total of Rs 50,000 crores will be invested in the Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan. The campaign aims to provide livelihood opportunities to the returnee migrant workers.

Turkish diplomat Volkan Bozkir was elected unopposed as the President of the 75th UN General Assembly in September 2020. Bozkir’s candidature was endorsed from among the Western European and other States.
