1. (a) Singapore
The 2018 ASEAN-India Pravasi Bharatiya Divas will be held in Singapore on 6-7 January 2018 to celebrate the 25 years of strategic partnership between India and ASEAN. The theme of the 2018 PBD Convention is “Ancient Route, New Journey: Diaspora in the Dynamic India-ASEAN Partnership”.
2. (b) Uttar Pradesh
The Uttar Pradesh government recently launched a free household power connection scheme ‘Prakash hai to vikas hai’ for the poor in the state to mark former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birthday. Initially, the two village Lohban and Gausana of Mathura district have been covered for 100% electrification.
3. (c) USD 318 million
India on 26 December 2017 signed USD 318 million Loan Agreement with the World Bank for Tamil Nadu Irrigated Agriculture Modernization Project to promote climate resilient agriculture technologies, improve water management practices and increase market opportunities for farmers in the state.
4. (d) Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change
The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change launched a pilot project ‘Blue Flag’ for beach clean-up and development. The purpose of the project is to enhance standards of cleanliness, upkeep and basic amenities at beaches.
5. (a) Public Financial Management System
For higher Level of transparency, centre has asked all the NGOs business entities and individuals who receive funds from abroad to open accounts in any of the 32 designated banks, within a month. NGOs were directed to open foreign contribution accounts in banks, which are integrated with the central government's Public Financial Management System (PFMS).
6. (b) Bengaluru
Bengaluru became India's first city to have its own logo just like New York and Paris. All the cultural events and important public services will be marked with this new logo of Bengaluru. The logo unveiled is a 180 degree straight line with Bengaluru amalgamated in Kannada and English. The tagline 'Bengaluru - Be U' (be you) is expected to build the city's image on the global stage.

Union Minister of State (I/C) of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Jitendra Singh launched the electronic-Human Resource Management System (e-HRMS) in New Delhi.
8. (d) Lakshadweep Islands
India is all set to get its first runway on a ‘sea bridge’, as the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has been given a nod to extend Lakshadweep’s Agatti Airport. The task will be carried out by building an RCC platform on the beach and shallow area which will allow bigger ATRs to operate on the island. The Project is likely to cost about Rs 1500 crore.
9. (a) China
The world’s longest glass bridge was opened in China to the public. Though it has a capacity to hold 2000 people, only 500 would be allowed at a time. The magnificent bridge lies 218 meters above hanging between the two cliffs in Hongyagu Scenic Area in Pingshan county.
10. (b) Mumbai
Mumbai got India's first ever AC suburban local train as Christmas gift. The first service of the 12-coach EMU will commence between Borivali and Churchgate. The first and 12th coaches from Churchgate end are earmarked as ladies coaches.
