The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) will be implemented in the nation's capital together with the announcement of election dates. As per the announcement made by CEC, there will be more than 13,000 polling booths all over the Union Territory.
More Than 1.5 Cr Voters in Delhi
There are 70 seats in the Delhi assembly. With three major parties—the Congress, the Bhartiya Janata Party, and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)—in the race, the Union Territory is already prepared for the election.
In Delhi, there are 1,55,24,858 voters. This comprises 83,49,645 males, 71,73,952 women, and 1,261 voters who identify as third gender. Delhi has 24,44,320 senior citizen voters, including 2,77,221 individuals over 80.
Delhi Election Results for Last Two Terms
For the third time, the AAP, under the leadership of its national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, is attempting to hold onto power in Delhi. Both the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections were won by the party. In 2015, the party secured 67 seats, and in 2020, it gained 63 seats in the Assembly.
The Delhi assembly's current term ends on February 23, 2025. In order to form a new House, elections must be held prior to that date. Assembly elections in Delhi have typically been held in one phase.
