Vinícius Júnior: Best Men’s Player of the Year
Vinícius Júnior, who missed out on the Ballon d'Or in October to Manchester City’s Rodri and skipped the ceremony in protest along with his Real Madrid teammates, finally won a major global player award. He was named FIFA’s “The Best” Men’s Player of the Year on Tuesday.
Unlike the Ballon d'Or, Vinícius came out on top, finishing five points ahead of Rodri, who took second place. The Real Madrid star attended the ceremony in Doha to receive his award.
FIFA The Best Awards Coach
Real Madrid also celebrated another win as Carlo Ancelotti was named the Best Men’s Coach for leading the team to La Liga and Champions League victories last season.
Emma Hayes won the women's category's best coach award for her exceptional work leading the United States to Olympic gold and helping Chelsea win the Women's Super League for the sixth time in a row.
Puskas Award for Finest Goal in Football
Alejandro Garnacho of Argentina won the Puskas Award for his incredible goal for Manchester United against Everton, while the renowned Marta of Brazil received the first-ever Marta Award for the finest goal in women's football.
