A team of scientists, led by Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute in Sydney found in the last week of March 2011 that a gene called Cited2 is responsible for the heart defects in Children. The Scientists used the mouse model to reveal that the gene Cited2 is active in the heart during development, but its activity plays no role in heart formation.
Heart disease in children ranges from a simple hole in the heart to a complex range of conditions which can cause the baby to die in the womb or may have adverse affect on the heart’s rhythm and blood flow. The research could help detect causes for Child heart Diseases.
