India Women recorded their highest-ever one-day international cricket total on Wednesday, setting a new record. India broke their previous record as they reached the 370-run milestone in the 42nd over of the third ODI against Ireland in Rajkot, driven by hundreds from Pratika Rawal and captain Smriti Mandhana.
In their allotted 50 overs, India achieved an incredible score of 435/5.
Indian Women's Team Breaks Its Own Record
Just three days ago, India scored 370 for 5, their highest ODI total at the time. But in this match, they broke their own record in spectacular style.
Smriti Mandhana’s Fastest 100
Smriti Mandhana, the captain, took center stage with a dazzling performance that broke the record for the fastest ODI century by an Indian women's batter. She broke Harmanpreet Kaur's previous record of an 87-ball century against South Africa in Bengaluru last year by reaching her 100 in just 70 balls.
With an outstanding strike rate of 170.9, Mandhana's innings of 135 off 80 balls was adorned with 12 fours and seven sixes. She delivered an exceptional performance in a dead-rubber match, with India already securing the series with a 2-0 lead. Choosing to bat first, Smriti delivered a stellar performance, effortlessly taking apart Ireland’s bowling attack.
Other Records Made in the Match
The opening partnership between Smriti and Pratika Rawal was the highest by an Indian women's opening pair in home ODIs, with a record-breaking 233 runs. The groundwork for India's enormous total was established by this staggering stand.
Mandhana became the first Indian woman to reach ten ODI hundreds during her innings, marking another personal accomplishment. She becomes one of the few openers in the format with double-digit tons, along with Meg Lanning of Australia (15) and Suzie Bates of New Zealand (13).
