As per the Presidential elections results declared on 9 April 2011, Ismail Omar Guellah was re-elected the President of Djibouti for the next five years. It would be his third Presidential term. Ismail Guelleh belongs to the ruling People’s Rally for Progress (RPP) party.
In 1999, Ismail Guelleh had succeeded the first President of Djibouti, Hassan Gouled Aptidon.
