Italy and France, on 8 April 2011, agreed to joint sea and air patrols to block Tunisian migrants from coming to European shores. The agreement was finalised in Milan. The two nations also agreed to carve out a system under which migrants getting temporary residency- permits will return to Tunisia during the permit period.
