Inspector General K Natarajan took over as the 21st Commander of the Coast Guard Region (Andaman and Nicobar) as a successor of VSR Murthy.

Inspector General K Natarajan, PTM, TM on 5 May 2014 took over as the 21st Commander of the Coast Guard Region (Andaman and Nicobar). He succeeded, Inspector General VSR Murthy, PTM, TM.

About Inspector General K Natarajan
• Inspector General K Natarajan joined the Indian Coast Guard on 18 January 1984
• He holds a masters degree in Defence and Strategic studies from Madras University
• During his 30 year illustrious career he held various important Command and Staff appointments, both afloat and ashore
• He has commanded all the four major classes of Indian Coast Guard ships with distinction namely
a) Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel Sangram
b) Offshore Patrol Vessel Veera
c) Fast Patrol Vessel Kanaklata Barua
d) Inshore Patrol Vessel Chand Bibi
• He was elevated to flag rank in August 2009

He is a recipient of some honours and awards namely
• President Tatrakshak Medal (Distinguished Service) in 2011
• Tatrakshak Medal (Meritorious) in 1996
• Director General Indian Coast Guard Commendation in 1987
