According to a new study done at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York in the last week of April 2011, a controlled diet low in carbohydrate and high in fat can help repair kidney damage in diabetics. The new diet is named as Ketogenic diet. This new diet could reverse the damage caused to tubes in the kidneys which happens because of too much sugar in the blood. To reach this conclusion, the researchers used laboratory mice with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. The experiment showed that Ketogenic diet helped mice to reverse the kidney damage once it occurred in them.
