The Key Indicators for Asia and the Pacific 2010, the flagship annual statistical data book of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the multilateral lending agency was launched in August 2010. The book presented the current available economic, financial, social, environmental, and Millennium Development Goals (MDG) indicators for regional members of ADB. The special chapter in Key Indicators for Asia and the Pacific 2010- “The Rise of Asia’s Middle Class” included in the book study the growth and impacts of the region’s rapidly expanding middle class as well as the consequent economic and policy implications. The report ranked India's middle class that is defined as those consuming between $2 and $20 a day grew by around 205 million between 1990 and 2008, second only to China.
