On Monday, September 16, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the Indian government is developing a super app that will streamline a number of railway-related services.
The Minister mentioned that users will be able to book tickets, track trains, check the status of PNRs, and access other functions through the app, but he did not go into specifics about what features it would have.
Railway Super App
During the News18 India Chaupal event in New Delhi, Vaishnaw emphasized the noteworthy progress that Indian Railways has achieved in the last ten years under the NDA government. "From the standpoint of the traveler, all necessary services will be accessible through the super app," he declared.
The minister also outlined noteworthy advancements in infrastructure, pointing out that more than 5,300 km of railroad tracks—a length equivalent to Switzerland's whole rail system—were installed in the previous year.

Improved Rail Safety in 10 Years
Regarding rail safety, Vaishnaw stated, "Rail accidents have decreased from 171 per year a decade ago to about 40 per year. To further minimize it, however, we are working nonstop to develop new training techniques and make structural adjustments.
In order to improve safety even more and avoid crashes and derailments, he also declared that 10,000 railway carriages will have the indigenous Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system Kavach installed.
Affordable Train Option: Amrit Bharat Train
The minister also unveiled Amrit Bharat trains, which are intended to make travel inexpensive for common Indians. These trains can cover distances of up to 1,000 kilometers for between Rs 400 and Rs 450.
Moreover, Vaishnaw noted the increased interest of foreigners in India's Vande Bharat trains. “We have already got inquiries for Vande Bharat from other countries like Chile. However, we will be prepared to export from Vande Bharat versions four and five," he continued.
