Previously referred to as the Great Repeal Bill, the EU Withdrawal Bill overturns the 1972 European Communities Act which took the UK into the then European Economic Community. It will also convert all existing EU laws into UK law, to ensure there are no gaps in legislation on BREXIT day. People of Britain in a historic referendum on 24 June 2016 voted in favour of leaving European Union (EU).
Tamil Nadu: Cauvery Maha Pushkaram to be celebrated from today on banks of river Cauvery
Cauvery Maha Pushkaram will be celebrated from 12 September 2017 on the banks of river Cauvery in Tamil Nadu. The celebration will come to an end on 24 September 2017.
Thousands of pilgrims are expected to throng the bathing Ghats at Trichy Srirangam and Myladuturai in Nagai daily. District administrations have made all arrangements for the smooth conduct of the festival.
"River Cauvery is the lifeline for delta districts of Tamil Nadu including the rice bowl Thanjavur. No wonder Cauvery is called as Annai Mother Cauvery and worshiped by thousands of people. Cauvery Maha Pushkaram is celebrated from today and is considered auspicious as the configuration of stars happens only once in 144 years.
British Parliament passes EU Withdrawal Bill, which will end supremacy of EU law in the UK
British Parliament on 11 September 2017 passed the EU Withdrawal Bill. The EU Withdrawal Bill was backed by MPs by 326 to 290 in a late-night vote despite critics saying it represented a power-grab by the government.
The passage in the parliament means that the government's bid to extract UK from EU law in time of BREXIT has passed its first Parliamentary test.
The bill, which will end the supremacy of EU law in the UK, now moves onto its next Parliamentary stage. Ministers sought to reassure MPs by considering calls for safeguards over their use of new powers.
Maharashtra wins Chief Minister's cup at National kickboxing championship
Maharashtra has won the Chief Minister's cup with 45 gold medals at the National kickboxing championship being held in Raipur.
Chhattisgarh secured the second position with 27 gold and Haryana stood at the third position with 15 gold medals. Nearly two thousand players from 27 states participated in the four-day event.
