On 20 July 2010, the Central Board of Secondary Education signed an MoU with the National Council for Hotel Management, Ministry of Tourism with a purpose to introduce two trade specific courses in the areas of Food Production and Food and Beverage Service under its vocational stream. The measure was adopted in recognition of the need to provide skilled manpower to the hospitality industry. The alliance is expected to reduce the gap in availability of skilled persons required for key operational areas in the hotel and restaurant sectors.
