The All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) Executive Committee on 29 Jan 2010 decided that the National team players would not be allowed to play in the National football championship for the Santosh Trophy. The National team would prepare for important assignments like the Asian Games and World Cup qualifiers in 2009 and the AFC Asian Cup in 2011. It was also decided that there would be two dedicated venues for the AIFF to conduct competitions.
