Numeric Power Systems Limited, the Indian power electronics major sold its UPS [Uninterrupted Power Supply] business to Legrand in a deal worth Rs. 829 cr. The announcement about the top notched deal was made by Numeric Power Systems Limited on 9 February 2012.
The deal comprises Numeric's subsidiaries in Sri Lanka (Numeric Lanka Technologies Pvt Ltd) and Singapore (Numeric Power System Pte Ltd). Numeric would also transfer three of its nine manufacturing and trading facilities — two in Puducherry and one in Parvanoo (in Himachal Pradesh), to Legrand.
Legrand is a French company with its interest spanning in areas like electronic and digital equipments. The gross market capitalisation of Legrand is estimated to be around €4.25-billion.
With this deal Legrand's Indian subsidiary, India Asian Electric Pvt Ltd, would be able to use the brand name, trademark and the IP of Numeric Power Systems Limited. Numeric Power Systems Limited is the leading UPS company in India which controls almost 16% of entire UPS market.
