Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to receive the Commonwealth of Dominica’s highest civilian award, the Dominica Award of Honour, the country announced on Thursday.
This award recognizes PM Modi’s support to Dominica during the Covid-19 pandemic. President Sylvanie Burton of Dominica will present PM Modi with the honour during the India-CARICOM Summit, which will be held in Georgetown, Guyana, from November 19 to 21, 2024.
PM Modi to Be Honoured in Dominica
The Commonwealth of Dominica will present its highest national honour, the Dominica Award of Honour, to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This award recognizes PM Modi's support to Dominica during the COVID-19 pandemic and his efforts to strengthen ties between India and Dominica. The announcement was made by the prime minister’s office in Dominica.
Why is PM Modi Getting this Award?
India sent 70,000 doses of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccination to Dominica in February 2021.
According to a statement from Roosevelt Skerrit, Dominica's prime minister, the award is an "expression of Dominica's gratitude for Prime Minister Modi's solidarity with Dominica and the wider region. "

PM Modi is well-regarded internationally. This will be his second foreign civilian honor this year.
