Senior advocate P H Parekh was elected the new president of the prestigious Supreme Court Bar Association in an election held on 11 May 2011. Ram Jethmalani, who contested for the first time last year and was elected president by a big margin, was relegated to the third position. He was elected as the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) defeating another Senior Advocate Adish C. Aggarwala by a margin of just two votes. Parekh was elected president of SCBA for the fifth time.
Ram Jethmalani, who was elected President in 2010 stood third with 735 votes while Parekh polled 757 votes, Aggarwala got 755 votes.
Other office bearers who were elected include Senior Advocate Rakesh Kumar Khanna (vice-president), K.C. Kaushik (secretary), Gaurav Bhatia (assistant secretary), Vibhu Shanker Mishra (treasurer) and Neeraj Kumar Sharma (assistant treasurer).
K C Kaushik became the secretary defeating his nearest rival by 112 votes.
