Sujoy Ghosh resigns as Jury Head of 48th International Film Festival of India

The 13-member jury, led by Sujoy Ghosh, included both the movies in their recommended list, but these two movies did not find their way in the list passed by the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh on 14 November 2017 resigned as Head of the jury of the Indian Panorama of the 48th International Film Festival of India (IIFI).

His resignation came following the elimination of the  two films "Sexy Durga" and "Nude" from the final list of films. Instead of Nude, the Hindi movie Pihu by Vinod Kapri was finalised as the opening film of the festival.

The 13-member jury, led by Sujoy Ghosh, included both the movies in their recommended list, but these two movies did not find their way in the list passed by the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Few other members of the jury are Nishikant Kamat, Nikkhil Advani, Apurva Asrani, Ruchi Narain and Gyan Correa, who also have expressed their dissent over the ministry's move.
