The launch of the GSLV-F06 (Geo-Synchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle), carrying communication satellite GSAT-5P, on 25 December 2010 from Sriharikota, ended in a failure. GSLV-F06 was launched by ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation).
The earlier GSLV flight had also failed in April 2010. Since 2001, four GSLV flights have failed out of the seven GSLV flights launched.
Sriharikota is a barrier island off the coast of the Southern State of Andhra pradesh in India.
