Kyui John of Kenya won the third Nagpur International Marathon in a record time of two hours fifteen minutes and twenty seconds on 30 January 2011. Kyui John was followed by his Ethiopian rival Afework Ayele Kibret who clocked two hours fifteen minutes and thirty two seconds. Another Kenyan runner Sumbei Fredrick came third with the timing of two hours sixteen minutes and one second. The third Nagpur International Marathon was arranged by the International Day for Non-Violence Organizing Committee and Maratha Lancers in Nagpur. The Nagpur marathon witnessed complete dominance of African athletes mainly comprising participants from Kenya and Ethiopia.
In the half-marathon for the women, Muia Jane Mwikali of Kenya won the race with the timing of one hour thirteen minutes and thirteen seconds. She was closely followed by her compatriots Muthio Kimuyu who clocked one hour thirteen minutes and fifteen seconds and Adimas Kasahun Mamo with one hour thirteen minutes and forty seven seconds.
Among the Indians Vipul Kataria who registered the timing of two hours twenty nine minutes and nine seconds finished at the twentieth position while Dattatraya Jaibhaye followed him with two hours twenty nine minutes and forty two seconds. Among the Indians in the women’s category Kavita Raut finished thirteenth and first among the Indian athletes in the event clocking her best timing of one hour nineteen minutes and twenty three seconds.
