The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) celebrated a significant milestone on September 7 by unveiling the state-of-the-art features of the Meerut Metro, India’s fastest metro services. The innovative urban Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) metro coaches were launched at the RRTS Depot in Duhai, Ghaziabad.
The metro's revolutionary design seeks to give people of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, a quick, safe, and contemporary form of transit.
Top 7 Features of Meerut Metro
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) unveiled the newest generation of coaches that will be utilized in the Meerut Metro on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS line.
1. Sleeker Body Than Delhi Metro
With a sleeker design than Delhi Metro, these futuristic coaches promise a comfortable and faster ride for commuters.

2. Energy Efficient
The trainsets feature a modern, lightweight design made from stainless steel, making them energy-efficient. They also have a regenerative braking system, which helps save energy during operation.
3. Prioritizes Passenger Comfort
The Meerut metro coaches focuses on the comfort of the passengers, their security, and safety, along with the modern look. In addition to many other modern comforts, the coaches have air conditioning, grab handles, CCTV cameras, USB mobile charging ports, dynamic route maps, and luggage racks.
4. Safety Features of Meerut Metro
Platform screen doors (PSDs), designed to enhance safety, will be installed at all stations to ensure secure metro operations and help manage crowd movement. To reduce energy consumption, push buttons will be used for selective door opening. The system also includes essential safety features such as talk-back systems, fire extinguishers, alarms, and passenger emergency communication systems, ensuring a safe and efficient travel experience.
5. Passenger Capacity of 700
The three-car Meerut Metro trainsets include 2x2 longitudinal and transverse seating configurations that are ergonomically built with cozy, padded seats. A train that has 173 seats may accommodate more than 700 passengers.
6. Reserved Seating for Females and Old Passengers
Every metro train coach will include a reserved seating area for female passengers and older residents.
7. 100% Made in India
All the trainsets for the Meerut Metro are being made entirely in India. This initiative is in accordance to the Make in India guidelines. These high-quality trains are being produced in Savli, Gujarat. So far, five trainsets have been delivered to NCRTC.
