1. (a) Roscosmos
The International Space Station (ISS) turned 20 years old on November 20, 2018. The project was kicked by Russian space agency Roscosmos when it launched its Zarya module from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on November 20, 1998.

The ISS currently serves as the largest, peaceful scientific collaboration in history. The multination partnerships have helped defray the burden of the ISS’s functioning. After NASA discontinued the Space Shuttle program in 2011, Russia’s Soyuz spacecraft started selling rides.

According to NASA, 230 individuals from 18 countries have visited the International Space Station. The ISS’s first crew included Astronaut Bill Shepherd and cosmonauts Yuri Gidzenko and Sergei Krikalev, who climbed aboard the station on November 2, 2000. It has been continuously occupied since then.

President Ram Nath Kovind on November 22, 2018 unveiled the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Parramatta in Sydney, Australia. On the occasion, a large number of people from the Indian community were present to welcome Indian President.

The United States and South Korea have scaled down an annual joint military exercise, Foal Eagle, scheduled for the spring of 2019. According to US Defence Secretary Jim Mattis, the move is to facilitate nuclear talks with North Korea. Foal Eagle is the biggest of the regular joint exercises held by the allies and has always infuriated North Korea, which condemned it as preparations for the invasion.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stones of City Gas Distribution (CGD) projects in 129 districts from New Delhi on November 22, 2018. The move will herald the availability of convenient, environment-friendly and cheaper natural gas for almost half of the country's population spread across 26 States and Union Territories.
