The Armed Forces Tribunal on 8 September 2010 rejected the petition of the Indian Army which sought from the tribunal a review of its order asking for correction of certain Kargil War records.
The tribunal headed by chairperson Justice AK Mathur had passed an order on 27 May 2010 asking the Indian Army to correct its records of 1999 Kargil War. The tribunal had acted on a plea from Davinder Singh and had asked the army to erase his Annual Confidential Report written by his superior Lt. General Kishan Pal.
Davinder Singh was a 70 infantry Brigade Commander during the Kargil war. His plea before the tribunal was that he didn’t get due credit for his role in Kargil war and that cost him a war medal and promotions.
