International Yoga Day is celebrated every year on 21st June. Every year, International Yoga Day adopts a specific theme to focus on yoga events and activities taking place on the special occasion. The theme of the year 2024 is "Yoga for Self and Society".

India's star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra recently won the gold medal in the men's javelin throw event at the Paavo Nurmi Games 2024 Athletics Meet in Turku, Finland. Neeraj won the gold medal by throwing 85.97 meters in his third attempt. At the same time, Finland's Toni Keranen won the silver medal in this event. Let us tell you that Neeraj also holds the Indian men's national record of 89.94 meter throw.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new campus of Nalanda University in Rajgir, Bihar. Many distinguished guests, including heads of missions from 17 countries, attended the inaugural ceremony. The campus is a 'net zero' green campus. The campus has two academic blocks with 40 classrooms. Bihar Governor Rajendra Arlekar, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar were also present on this occasion.

Nepal's spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has become the second fastest bowler in the world to take 100 wickets in 100 T20 Internationals. Sandeep completed his 100 wickets in 54 T20 International matches. He achieved this feat in a match played against Bangladesh in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The record for taking the fastest 100 wickets is in the name of Afghanistan's Rashid Khan, who completed his 100 wickets in 53 matches.

President Draupadi Murmu has appointed BJP MP Bhartruhari Mahtab as the Protem Speaker for the 18th Lok Sabha. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju gave this information. He said that till the election of the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Mahtab will discharge the duties of the Speaker.

PM Modi is on a two-day visit to Kashmir on the occasion of International Yoga Day. He participated in a special yoga programme at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre on the banks of the famous Dal Lake. Let us tell you that International Yoga Day is celebrated every year on 21 June; it started in the year 2015.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the premier body of the United Nations, has appointed British actor Theo James as its Global Goodwill Ambassador. UNHCR said James, who starred in the television series "The Gentlemen" and "The White Lotus", has supported UNHCR since 2016 and has travelled to Greece, France and Jordan in connection with this.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the first trial run of the Sangaldan-Reasi train has been completed, marking an important milestone in crossing the world's highest railway bridge, Chenab. The bridge was built 359 metres (about 109 feet) above the Chenab River in the Jammu and Kashmir region, and is about 35 metres higher than the Eiffel Tower.

  1. (b) Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska

A contingent of the Indian Air Force participated in Exercise Red Flag 2024 conducted from 04 June to 14 June 24 at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska of the United States Air Force. This was the second edition of Red Flag 2024, which is organised four times a year by the US Air Force. Apart from India, the air forces of Singapore, United Kingdom and Netherlands also participated in this exercise.

The South African Parliament on Friday re-elected African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril Ramaphosa as the President of South Africa during the first meeting of the National Assembly of the 7th Parliament. This is Ramaphosa's second term as President of South Africa. He first took office on February 15, 2018 and was elected on May 22, 2019 following the 2019 elections.
