Chad's President Idriss Déby, who was one of Africa's longest-serving leaders, died on April 20, 2021 due to the injuries he sustained following clashes with rebels in the north of the country over the weekend. He was 68.

Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu created a new world record on April 17, 2021 in Clean and Jerk after she lifted 119 kg at the Asian Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent.

The United States Senate on April 21, 2021, confirmed Vanita Gupta to serve as the Associate Attorney General of the US. She will be the first Indian-American to serve in this post.

Russian Space Agency ‘Roscosmos’ is all set with its mission to launch its spacecraft‘Luna 25’on October 1, 2021, towards the icy South pole of the Moon. After 45 years since their last landing on the Moon, Russian scientists are taking up the project to study the water beneath the surface at the South pole of the Moon.

Italy on April 17, 2021, launched its first-ever mega food park and food processing unit in India. The pilot project ‘The Mega Food Park’, with the signing of a Letter of Intent between the Fanidhar Mega Food Park in Gujarat and the ICE Office in Mumbai, was launched virtually.

Australia on April 21, 2021 announced that it will revoke a state government's deal to join China's Belt and Road Initiative. The nation stated that it was inconsistent with its foreign policy. Australia's Foreign Minister Marise Payne shared the information saying that the federal government will override the Victorian state government's decision to sign up to China's Belt and Road Initiative.

India finished third at the Asian Wrestling Championship 2021 with 14 medals, including 5 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze medals. Iran and Kazakhstan tied for the first place with 17 medals each.

11. (a) Pfizer
Pfizer has decided to provide COVID-19 vaccines in India only through government channels. This means that the vaccine may not be available in private hospitals of the country unless the centre decides to sell the doses to private facilities. The decision comes at a time when India has opened its vaccination drive for all above the age of 18 years from May 1st. 

12. (a) Washington DC
The House of Representatives voted on April 22, 2021 to pass a bill that would make Washington DC the 51st state of the United States. The legislation was passed with parties voting along party lines with 216 Democrats voting in favour and 208 Republicans voting against. None of the Republic legislators voted in favour of the bill.
