The centenary session of Indian Science Conference, Kolkata was held on 3rd January to 7th January 2013. This annual session emerged as a major national event. The theme selected for this centenary session was “Science for shaping the future of India”. However, the theme for all other sessions upto 2003 since 1914 was grouped under “Shaping of the Indian Science”.
Future societies could be benefited on three pillers:

There are predictions that India would emerge as a major economy within the next twenty years. Lofty goals have been set up in the centenary session 2013 to make technological changes in the country in order to frame a better future. The scientists basically focus on the generation of new body of knowledge which has been their most important preoccupation. In nearby future, whenever the generations will face problems of food or nutrition security, environment related challenges, water and sanitation problems etc. they could rely on the power of scientific knowledge.
