Congress Candidate List 2024:  On Friday, Congress unveiled its initial list of 39 candidates across eight states and one Union Territory for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. This announcement followed a session of the Central Election Committee (CEC), led by party president Mallikarjun Kharge, held the previous day, which finalized the candidates for various constituencies.

Rahul Gandhi, former Congress president, will be vying for the Wayanad seat in Kerala, a constituency he currently represents. K C Venugopal, Congress general secretary, is set to contest from Alappuzha, and Shashi Tharoor, the incumbent Thiruvananthapuram MP, will be seeking re-election. Additionally, the party has nominated Bhupesh Baghel, former chief minister of Chhattisgarh, for the Rajnandgaon seat, and Tamardwaj Sahu, a former minister, for Mahasamund. Jyotsna Mahant is slated to contest from Korba in Chhattisgarh.

Last week, the BJP had disclosed its first list of 195 candidates spanning 16 states and two Union Territories for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha polls. This announcement followed an extensive meeting of the party's Central Election Committee (CEC). Prime Minister Narendra Modi will once again be contesting from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, and Home Minister Amit Shah is set to contest from Gandhinagar in Gujarat. The BJP's list includes 34 Union ministers and two former chief ministers.
