11 Key Decisions Taken Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Government

1. Beti Bachao Beti Padhao

While this programme started on January 22, 2015, the announcement of the programme came in November 2014 to help reverse the declining Child Sex Ratio and empower women, it has tri-ministerial support from the Ministry of Women and Child Development besides the Ministries of Health and Family Welfare and Education.

2. Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana

As stated on October 07, 2017, this financial inclusion program was launched on August 28, 2014, to extend the banking facilities to the unbanked population and facilitate change in their lives through savings and access to institutional credit across the country.

3. Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana

Through this programme, Members of Parliament are supposed to come up with model villages in a change from a supply-driven to a demand-driven model for development, encouraging the spirit of entrepreneurship among the community members.

4. Make in India

This has made some enhancements in the ease of doing business while offering a boost in infrastructure to support manufacturing and entrepreneurship activities across the different industrial sectors.

5. Namami Gange Programme

An extensive programme of cleaning up the Ganga River involving all stakeholders, not only in terms of the environmental issues that are connected with cleaning up a major river system but also for the millions of Indians for whom the Ganga is an object of deep religious importance.

6. Rural Electrification

The remaining villages of the country would be electrified within 1000 days said PM Modi which has helped to increase electricity access in rural areas rather transparently through the use of mobile applications.

7. Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana

This programme seeks to increase yields from farming through the provision of improved irrigation facilities and the market available irrigation technologies which include ‘per drop more crop’.

8. Transparent Governance Initiatives

Regarding the accountability of decision-making, the government has endeavoured certain measures including; the quick auction of coal blocks based on a Supreme Court’s verdict.

9. Education and Skill Development Initiatives

The schemes that have been initiated include; Pradhan Mantri Vidyalakshmi Karyakram which aims at providing education loans for students as well as the Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya Mission for Teacher Training aims at improving the quality of education as well as the accessibility of teachers.

10. Digital India Initiative

The vision of the project targeted at making India a digitally empowered society having ICT tools for a knowledge economy.

11. Health Initiatives

The government has brought out initiatives related to the health sector meant to provide better and improved access to healthcare for people including the Ayushman Bharat for the health insurance for the economically much weaker sections of the society.
