Technology Achievement Index is used by United Nations Development Programme to compute how well a country is generating & diffusing technology & structuring a human skill base, reflecting capability to partake in the technological improvements of the network age.
The Technology Achievement Index focuses on 4 dimensions of technological capacity:
• Creation of technology
• Diffusion of recent innovations
• Diffusion of old innovations
• Human skills
Technology creation
Technology Creation is computed by the number of patents approved to inhabitants per capita & by receipts of license fees and royalties from abroad per capita.
Diffusion of recent innovations
Diffusion of recent innovations is computed by the number of Internet hosts per capita & share of high -technology & medium - technology exports in the total goods exports.
Diffusion of old innovations
It is measured by electricity consumption per capita & telephones per capita
Human skills
It is measured by mean years of schooling in the population (aged 15 and older) & gross tertiary science enrolment ratio.
